The Power Struggle

Many people see America as the country to be or the country that needs to get out of everyones face. America is the frat boy at a party he wasn't invited to, but who still showed up anyway! One of the major causes of this would be the constant power struggle. Each person is implanted with the idea that they are an individual. A unique being that has power over the decisions they make. But do they really? We don't get to decide who our parents are, when we learn to walk, how we learn to speak. We don't even have much control over what school we go to. Now look at yourself. You have the audasity to think you matter. Well that's good enough! If you are willing to think you matter then you are willing to fight for your rights. Now you're thinking like an American. The largest power struggles currently taking place are between boy, girls and then children and their parents, not to mention the struggle against the government or poverty. No, the United States is not poor. But it is one of the most successful countries at sending our citizens to jail. Now think about it. Living in a country where you are unique. Where your entire known world is a constant fight. Where you are more likely to go to jail than in most other countries. Welcome to America! Where the promise is not happiness, but the prusuit  of it.
